I played around with a few last night and I was following some basic instructions via a photoshop book. They look lighter than the JPEG picture that was recorded at the same time. I guess I've wondering what do I exactly do and are they usually lighter than the JPEG ones that are taken w/it when you shoot both. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.
It is the cheapest place I have found so far and I would hate to pass it up because of location and I feel like it would be a great opportunity for me so just wondering...it is exciting but so scary at the same time...I may end up on food stamps :eek

Sterling is about a 3 - 1/2 hour drive for me so we made this a 1:00pm to 7:30pm shoot with no breaks. The girl is a senior but totally against senior photo stuff done in her area. The mom has her Master of Fine Arts and also works part time with a photo studio where they live and is a great photographer on her own and just purchased that canon 5D mark II or III or whatever you call it. Anyway the pressure was on but it was actually just a fun day of shooting. I do not consider any of these shot finished but I wanted to share for a change.

The monthly photo contest for September will give you a chance to think 'out of the box'. The subject matter should reflect this and is definitely open to your interpretation.

Whether it's something you don't normally shoot, or something you've come along is that just plain strange, bring it on! The idea is to give us something engaging, fun, strange, different, something that doesn't need an explanation.

At the end of the month, our members will vote for the winning image.

Rules:

1. Only one entry per member. Multiple entries from the same member will be deleted starting with the first one that was entered.

2. You will be able to post until Sept 26th - Voting will begin on Sept 27 and will last until the night of October 1. Any entries submitted after midnight MST on the 26th will be deleted.

3.The anonymous feature is fully functional...Don't forget to check the anonymous box. *A note about checking the anonymous box: if you try to preview your images before you post it, it will click off the anon feature and you will have to check the box again. So be careful if you are hitting preview first, this is where many people are missing the option to check the anon feature again. I cannot fix this for you. All we can do is delete and have you resubmit.

4. Please title your images.

5. Voting will be open to all members and the results of the voting will be hidden until October 1st, when the winner will be decided.

6. No commenting on pictures posted in the thread during the contest PLEASE! Comments on images will be deleted by me.

------------------

The prize for the September Contest will be: Any, Silver, Gold, or Platinum backdrop. Valued at up to $309.00

So my question is, as a general rule, how do the Colorsmacks gel? I wasn't able to find a description about the type of fabric they're done on, just that they're wrinkle resistant.

If anyone has any examples of Colorsmacks using gels, I would really appreciate it! I'm hoping to take advantage of the sale if I can and get the most versatile ones where I can use gels to extend the possibilities!

Hi everyone! It's been a roller coaster of a year, and a lot of it not great, which is why I've been absent for a while. Long story short, not long after our wedding, my husband became pretty sick. After a while, it became obvious his gall bladder needed to come out. What was supposed to be a short, out-patient surgery went very wrong, and we could have very easily lost him. He was off work for months, and has to have follow up procedures for the next year. However, he is now back to his old self and back to work, and we are working on getting things back to where they were pre-illness.

I have been working on my photography, studying and taking all the webinars I can get into. I took one about a month or so ago with with Danny Rabalais & the Photography School House on boudoir photography. It looked like fun, and there's no where around my area to have them done so I figured why not? I've done a couple sessions with my volunteer models to build a portfolio, and have a couple more volunteers lined up, plus their friends are already asking about having sessions done, so this could be a good thing! I've included a couple of their sneak peeks!

Oh, and if you're on Facebook, look me up....I practically live there! My profile is here.
