View Full Version : My 2007 client calendar template

Just sharing! I send my clients a calendar featuring a picture from their own session each year for xmas.
It's a 5x8 template....I tried 5x7 first, but I had a hard time getting the picture and logo both on there without making the calendar part too tiny. It can be cropped down to 5x7 easily enough if you prefer that size.
I'm planning on getting two on an 8x10, then cutting myself. I'm getting the 5x8 adhesive magnetic backing here: http://www.magnetvalley.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/6643/subcatid/39295/id/205050
Here's what it looks like...the days of the month are each on a separate layer, so you can change the font to whatever you want. Same with the year.

Thanks. Thats very neat and nice of you to share. I never thought of that before. My mother gets calanders from her insurance company each year and always loves those. ROFL For sessions so far I've been giving either a fridge magnet or a keychain with a pic from their order, but of course I havent been doing this long enough to offer something each year. The calander is NICE.

This is a great idea. Should the photos have a protective coating? I've never done this type of thing before.

thank you! Cant wait to get started on these!
oh, a tip for you that i picked up from somewhere, is to send them out with New Year cards, instead of Christmas, since people get so many cards at Christmas time, they might be stuffed in a drawer ;)
KarenE
11-14-2006, 01:17 AM
That's a great idea! Another is to send out Thanksgiving cards giving thanks for your customer's business.

This won't open in PS CS for me either. Can anyone format this to work in later versions of PS?
Thanks,
Marc
KellyC

It works in my CS. Try again Marc. Maybe it's just the fonts? I know that there was at least one font that I didn't have...
JML Photography
11-18-2006, 11:19 AM
Did you have to add the fonts before being able to use the template? What fonts are used in the template?
Thanks,
Marc
KarenE

This was made in CS2....so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work in CS.
KarenE
11-18-2006, 12:12 PM
The font is Sunnydale, it's a paid font that I used because it's the same as my logo. You shouldn't be roped into using it though...PS should be able to substitute the font with something you have. Although I've seen people's examples using the Sunnydale font, so it works for some.

I'm still not having any luck opening the file. Could you save it as a tiff and send it to me?
Thanks,

I don't have Sunnydale, it just substituted a different font. Not sure why it won't open for you though. Maybe some of the other PS pros around here might know. Sorry, I'm not going to be much help here!

What size is that? I tried to make my own as well, and just ended up getting frustrated. I couldn't get the font size big enough on such a small space.

I made mine as an 8x10. I made each month seperately and saved the month and then I reduced each total month to 2.5" wide by 1" high. If you want I can forward you mine. I'm not sure how to make a template but I can send you the calander and you can add the rest via new layers.

That is so strange! Why can some people get it and others can't? Does it say anything when you try to open it, or does it just not open?

It says:
There was a problem reading the layer data. Read the composite data instead? (with an option to read composite data or cancel).
If I click "read composite data" I get another error:
Could not complete your request because the file is not compatable with this version of PS.
