At just under five feet when fully extended, the Traveler rises as tall as most standard Gitzo Tripods, yet thanks to a ground-breaking 180^o folding mechanism, the Traveler is a full 25% shorter and more compact when folded -- making the Traveler perfect for carrying in a photographer’s hand luggage. The G1158T weighs only 2.2 lbs and is the ideal solution for photographers on the move.

The Traveler is a sport carbon performance five section tripod with grooved rapid column. It is an excellent choice for use with all digital cameras, 35mm and light weight camcorders. Like all Gitzo carbon fiber tripods, the Traveler offers unparalleled strength. The G1158T was developed using a unique manufacturing process based on pull winding of long carbon fibers. The fibers are precisely wrapped and combined under high temperature and pressure with epoxy resin. This process ensures stiff, light tubes that are resistant to bending and perform with a high degree of stability and compression strength. The Traveler also provides greater capacity to absorb vibrations and withstand fatigue.
 

Made of Carbon 6X, this all new six-layer tube construction process makes it stronger than existing carbon, yet 15% lighter. In addition, the G1158T features Anti Leg Rotation (ALR). This enables the tripod to be fully set-up in under 20 seconds. Simply loosen the twist locks on each leg in a single motion, then pull the leg down and tighten the twists indivdually.

Gitzo has left no detail overlooked. A newly redesigned built-in, spring-loaded, retractable accessory hook provides a place to hang equipment, such as camera, sand or water bags, on the bottom of the center column. In addition, the G1158T can be used in river beds without adverse effect on the locking mechanisms due to its polymer bushings.
