At just a shade over 1lb, the G1278M features Gitzo’s new quick-release plate system. Light enough to travel with, but strong enough to carry loads up to 13.2 lbs, the G1278M offers excellent locking power for its size, with separate mechanisms for panoramic and ball movements.

Its advanced teflon-coated ball gives smooth, fluid-feeling movements between shots, and this coating makes camera positioning adjustments smoother than ever before by eliminating all trace of jarring and skipping.

• Secure locking system for the plate so equipment cannot accidentally fall off the head, even if it has not been locked down. To remove the equipment and plate, simply press the lock release button and slide the plate out.
